Anh Nguyen is a first-generation Asian American photographer based in Dallas, Texas. Born in Vietnam, Anh learned to adapt to life in the United States without knowing the language or customs, and at a young age, he used unconventional methods of learning to quickly adjust and thrive in a new environment, proving that in unfamiliar circumstances, he can always find a solution.
His mother, a florist, and his father, a videographer, began working in the wedding industry, and when Anh was in middle school, his father needed someone to be his second camera man, thus exposing Anh to photography. But, it wasn’t until Anh’s sophomore year in high school that he got his first camera, a Canon Rebel XSi—the true start to his photography career.
His career picked up when he was commissioned his first solo wedding in the summer of 2008. He focused on building clientele in the wedding industry and even shot events at local colleges like SMU. In 2009, he attended the Art Institute of Dallas where he expanded his repertoire to include commercial, fashion, and sports photography, and in 2011, he relocated to Southern California where he finished his Bachelor of Science in Photography from The Art Institute of Orange County and the University of Southern California.
Since then, Anh has been published locally and internationally, shooting for companies like the NBA, Staples Center, AT&T Stadium, Vogue, LA Times, Kim Dawson, LOCALE, Heritage, Heritage Vietnam and many more. He currently is attending Texas A&M Commerce for his Masters in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Photography while teaching animation and photography at Garland High School.
